(Sacramento) - Early detection of cancer can mean the difference between life and death. The statistics show the stark reality: Only 19% of ovarian cancer is currently diagnosed in Stage 1, when it received a five-year survival rate of 92% for women, treatment. Instead, most women are diagnosed only after their phase 3 (24%, with a rate of 42% survival at five years) at an advanced stage, or even worse, Stage 4 (25%, with only 17% survival rate at five years). With these figures and the lifebehind them in mind Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Sally Lieber (D-San Jose) Assembly Bill 1774, to expand cancer screenings for women, evidence of ovarian and uterine cancer are introduced.
